1100 After Race Party & Awards Ceremony at Hula Bay Waterfront Bar & Grill (5210 West Tyson Avenue Tampa FL 33616)
All swimmers will receive an American made event t-shirt and hoody designed by Forged Clothing and upon finishing will be awarded a TB Frogman coin presented by a US Navy SEAL or a surviving family member of a SEAL. Afterwards, everyone is invited to drive, boat, kayak or swim to the post race party at Hula Bay Waterfront Bar & Grill. The party will feature a buffet lunch, beer provided by 3Daughters Brewing, the awards ceremony and a raffle with some awesome prizes. Guests can purchase an entry wristband (covers food/beer) for $15 at the finish area or at Hula Bay.
Registration opens August 6 (in honor of the Extortion 17 heroes) at 7am EDT. There are absolutely no refunds for this event as this event is a fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Please visit imAthlete.com for quickest processing. Please register early as we are limiting the field to 175 swimmers and last year the event sold out in 14 minutes.
A limited number of $2500 charity slots will be available, registration for these slots will open June 28 in honor of the heroes of Operation Red Wings.
As this is a charity event to benefit the families of wounded or fallen Navy SEALs, swimmers are asked to participate in fundraising. While $1500 is the ideal fundraising goal per swimmer, we appreciate the best efforts of our participants in helping us reach this year’s total fundraising goal of $700,000. Before registering, we ask that you please consider your ability to meet that dollar amount as you may be taking the slot of a swimmer who has every intention of meeting or exceeding that goal. If you’re registering just to set a PR or check off a bucket list item, this may not be the swim for you. Please remember, this is more than just a swim. Fundraising can be done via our imAthlete.com page, collecting donations personally or through the “Donate” button on our home page. Please visit www.navysealfoundation.org to learn more about this very special cause.
The Frogman Swim, a 3.1-mile open water event, may be challenging for even seasoned swimmers, therefore it is recommended that swimmers possess some degree of open water experience or, at the very least, competitive long distance pool experience. To ensure the safety of the swimmers, the event committee will reserve the right to review the swimming experience of each participant and possibly deny registration to the event if safety concerns exist; or some swimmers may be asked to furnish a letter from a sanctioned swim team or masters coach attesting to their ability to complete such an arduous open-water event.
The water temperature of Tampa Bay is usually between 55-63 degrees in January, and as a result, wetsuits are mandatory. Exceptions, i.e., swimmers training for the English Channel, etc., will be made on case by case basis at the race director’s discretion prior to the event.
